How To Apply in UK For Study-Best Education Service

Admission Procedure

All applications to UK universities are made through a single computerized system known as Universities and Colleges Admission Service (UCAS).This allows the applicants the choice of six universities and courses.UCAS forms are available on the website of British Council .

Time for Application

  • UCAS forms should be submitted before 15th December, before a year of start of the course.Applications are processed between 15 December to 30 June.
  • For Oxford and Cambridge Students must apply before 15th October of the year preceding one year of their entry into the university.There are specific forms to be filled and sent to the universities.An applicant cannot apply to both the colleges in the same academic year.

Documents Required

  • Applicants are required to give all details of their education, course subjects, grades and send transcripts of their academic qualification.
  • They must also submit along with their application, the official transcript(scanned copies of their original mark sheets/ degree) and mention whether they have done their course through correspondence/ regular student.
  • All documents must be in English language.If the originals are not in English, copies in English translation must be enclosed.

Letters of Recommendation (LOR)

Treat this statement as a crucial document required by almost all the universities, even if LOR is not demanded, it is advisable to send this along with the application  form.
LOR is a signed statement of a person who has been either your teacher and has taught you the subject in which you are applying for admission.The writer must mention the following details:
  • The author or teacher must indicate his/her position
  • How long he/she has known the applicant and in what capacity.
  • Discuss the need, importance and usefulness of the study the applicant  is proposing  to undertake
  • Positive and negative qualities of the applicant.
  • In the prescribed form for LOR sent by the university the authors are asked to rank the applicant.Author has given to cite examples that may bring out the qualities of the applicant.

Statement of Purpose (SOP)

  • These are personalized account of the applicants reasons for choosing the course, his/her personal interests, career goals etc.These documents must be written carefully but one must show honesty, clarity of thought and linguistic skills in preparing this.Some universities also ask the applicants to fill some questionnaire.This document enables the admission authority to evaluate the applicants suitability for the course.
